Cypress Hawkes Bay Merlot 2014

Merlot grapes grown on our hillside were hand-picked and combined with those from the stony soils at the foot of the hill. Minimal handling in the winery has ensured a magenta coloured, fruit- driven style Merlot, with plum and hints of liquorice on the nose, followed by juicy cherry and blueberry flavours, cedary oak and a warm lingering finish.

La Valentina Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2013

At first sight the deep, intense ruby red colour of the wine is striking, with small violet arches. The bouquet suggests red fruit, rose petals and hints of wet spices.

Cambridge road ‘Animus’ Pinot Noir 2013

Punchy primary fruit characters are layered with well seasoned woods and touches of gamey funk. There’s lifted spices touching cinnamon, anise and bitter chocolate, dark cherries and more botanic scents of the forest. Supple ripe tannins are tensioned by a fine chalky character, the weight is generous and warm with a lingering depth of fine spice.

La Valentina Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC ‘Spelt’ 2011

A classic clone Montepulciano from La Valentina’s coastal vineyard in Spoltore …

Deep dark ruby red colour introduces an intense and aromatic nose and concentrated rich, ripe red fruit flavours. Hearty tannins and fresh acidity are softened by barrique and bottle maturation. At five years from vintage, “Spelt” is still very much a supple, youthful, exciting and drinkable wine that will also offer “interest” on maturing for 5 to 10 years.
